Reliability is the most important success criterion for integrated systems. For critical systems, whose failure could kill or injure human beings, it is the only success criterion. Critical systems must not fail.
When I was a systems integrator a long time ago I thought I'd publish a desk calendar with a new project management aphorism for every day of the year. But it turned out I only knew 148 things worth saying about project management. A friend suggested I fill in the blanks with recipes and jokes. That was before we knew about cat and dog photos. Does anyone even know what a desk calendar is anymore?
